your path to success
Introduction
While you're free to choose how long you stay with us, many find that partnering with us for three years provides the greatest value, as it allows us to guide you through each key phase of your business's growth.
Here’s how we structure those three years:
Year One: Building Foundations – Focus on stabilisation, achieving profitability, and creating room for personal time.
Year Two: Implementing and Systemising – Prioritise delegation, establishing efficient systems, and solidifying operations.
Year Three: Scaling and Growth – Set the stage for sustainable expansion and long-term success.
The following overview highlights the key focus areas of the first year of our programme, providing you with a clear roadmap for building a stable and profitable foundation for your business.
Overview: The Three Elements Supporting Your Business Journey
At Mentor 2 Freedom, we provide comprehensive mentoring through three essential elements:
Education
Learn to grow your business, be confident with numbers and delegate effectively.
Consultation
Work with our experts who will help to give you the roadmaps and key information you need to be able to have your business begin to work for you.
Mentoring
Put it all into action, ably supported and championed by our team and the wider network at Mentor 2 Freedom.
The programme is delivered with a dedicated team, giving you the best opportunity to learn to excel in business, while having the support of a team of experts to give you the tools you will need as your business grows. All this comes with mentoring and guidance on a 121 basis leaving you with the feeling that you and your business are in the best hands!
As a business owner, we know the most common issues we hear are:
There’s too much to do
Lack of time
Only I can do the work
And often, I want to take a holiday!
Our Mentor 2 Freedom initiative shows you how to understand data (even if you’re not a numbers person!) and make sound business decisions based on information, not on how you’re feeling that day.
It teaches you how to empower your workforce to undertake greater responsibility and gives you the tools to be able to let go, you’ll see the amount of time you can save and your employees will thrive with their newfound sense of value.
We look at how to sell, without ‘being salesy’. Most woodworkers have an aversion to anything that feels like selling. We will show you how to work smarter, not harder and improve you sales conversion rate – which will cut down on all those quotes that take your time now.
We offer a comprehensive series of workshop days throughout the year, featuring six in-person sessions and six online sessions. Each workshop is designed to guide you through the following programme:
Roadmap (this is a stand-alone session that feeds into the rolling educational programme) – a brief glimpse at the key components that will make the most difference in your business and help you define and achieve your goals. You will learn the power of 1% and what actions you need to take. By the end of the day, you will have a clear roadmap and vision for your business and the next 3 years.
Finance & Power of Numbers – learn how to track numbers, grow in confidence with understanding your finances and learn how to make decisions based on data, not just what’s in the bank account.
Sales & Marketing – understand and create a marketing plan and a sales funnel. Become comfortable with using specific tools and techniques to get sales without feeling pushy. Identify and target the clients that work for your business and who you can partner with.
Culture/Cultivating fans - Building a strong culture starts with hiring the right people. Skills can be taught, but personality and attitude are essential. It’s crucial to bring in team members who share your vision and values. If staff members are disruptive or don’t align with your company’s standards, it’s important to let them go. Consistently exceeding client expectations helps create loyal fans who will recommend your business and drive new opportunities. Clear communication plays a vital role in this process—when clients know what to expect and you overdeliver, you create delight and lasting loyalty.
Innovation & Outsourcing - Staying ahead in business means embracing modern technology, equipment, and regulatory standards. Innovation is key, but so is knowing when to outsource. Once your internal capacity is maxed out, outsourcing becomes a powerful way to increase profitability. You’re already covering overheads and labor, so outsourcing allows for additional profit without straining your resources. During busy periods, outsourcing can boost your bottom line, and during slower times, it helps you manage workload flexibly.
Systemising & Delegation - Effective delegation starts with having clear systems in place. Systems ensure that tasks are done consistently and to the same high standard. Without them, delegation won’t work. Once expectations and metrics are clearly defined, you can confidently delegate tasks, freeing up your time to focus on growth. Look for tasks that can be done better by others in your team or through outsourcing. Delegating those tasks will allow you to scale your business without becoming a bottleneck yourself.
Element One: Education
Element Two: Consultation
We visit you on-site to ensure we gain a really good understanding of the unique elements of your business.
Our consultation process consists of three key visits:
Visit 1/3 – takes place as soon as you have confirmed you want to go ahead
Visit, speak to you and your team, gain clear insight around numbers, current position, aspiration and culture.
Visit 2/3 – happens within month 2-3
Feedback on current state. Collaborative conversation with business owner to scope out delivery of plan and agree measures of success. Use tools created by the team to help with numbers, sales, marketing and production.
Visit 3/3 – towards the end of the 1st year, around month 10-11
Analysis on performance to date. Setting the next year's goals and ambition.
Element Three: Mentoring
You will get the opportunity to speak frequently with our team. This takes place through two scheduled calls every month.
Call 1 – a chance to ask questions and run ideas past our key mentor, Erin. Tap into Erin’s unparalleled knowledge of the industry and business in general
Call 2 – you will have an opportunity to run through anything you may not have understood or ask for a practical application of any teaching using your own data.
